Anime/Cartooning Classes

Students learn foundation drawing skills for cartooning and Kawaii ‘cute’ drawing styles (think Pokemon, Hello Kitty, etc).
Classes cover facial features, hair styles, body postures, accessories, etc for both human and animal characters.
Learn the fundamentals of visual storytelling using cartoon features such as exaggeration, simplification, etc, as students develop their own characters (Hero/Villain) in a comic-strip format.
Fee: $430 for 10-week term. Please note classes run on long weekends except where the public holiday falls on a Saturday (Easter). No refunds available. Students can attend a make-up class at one of our after-school locations or put towards holiday sessions.

Kids learn foundation drawing skills for Anime/Manga drawing style.
Classes cover facial features, hair, body postures, accessories, etc for human and animal characters.
This ongoing class welcomes Beginners as the skills learnt each week build upon and review existing skills.
Practice with different mediums including pencil, fineliners, graphic markers and inks as they explore their character.
Kids create a Character Sheet as they explore their character identity.
We explore storytelling in comic format including character development, scene setting, close ups, zoom ins, as well as cartoon techniques such as exaggeration and simplification.
Kids are encouraged to develop their own style within their favoured genre and will create an A3 multi-panel comic at the end of the term.
Fees: $43 per session, includes all materials. Payable by 10-week school term. Note: we run classes on Saturdays where there is a public holiday Monday – no refunds given, however make up classes are offered. No classes held over Easter weekend.

After completing the Foundation Skills classes (or showing examples of their current skills), kids can join this class with a focus on individual character and/or comic strip development at their own pace. The class operates alongside our Foundation class, with more one-on-one feedback.
Kids refine their skills in drawing facial features, hair, body postures, accessories, etc for human and animal characters.
Kids create several Character Sheets as they explore multiple characters, for example, side-kicks and villains.
Practice with different mediums including pencil, fineliners, graphic markers and inks as they explore their character.
A greater emphasis on body movement using perspective to draw characters in action.
Explore story development using comics and storyboards.
Kids are encouraged to develop their own style within their favoured genre with the view to creating their own comic.
