Covid-Safe Update

Classes will follow ACT Government’s Health Directives, including:

  • No child or adult should enter the premises if they are ill, including fever, coughing, runny noses (clear, yellow or green) or generally unwell. Fever is classified as 38 degrees.
  • Hand sanitiser should be used on check-in and is available throughout the studio at key entry points and in the classrooms
  • Children’s tempertures will be taken on sign in to ensure no fever present
  • A one-way system of pedestrian traffic flow will be in operation to check children in, move them to their class and meet outside for collection. Please enter upstairs and leave by the studio basement door.
  • Mask wearing indoors by anyone over 12 years
  • Physical distancing of 1.5 m where possible
  • Indoor density as per current regulations
  • Cleaning and disinfecting of shared equipment between classes
  • Increased air ventilation and use of air purifer in the studio, or classes may be held outdoors depending on the weather.
  • Sick Child Policy: We will credit or refund if your child is ill. However, if you send a sick child and we have to call you to collect them, NO credit or refund will be offered for that day’s sessions.
  • Should we be forced to close due to Covid cases, all unused fees will be credited.

Session times and costs

  • Our school holiday workshops run for two, three-hour sessions (9.00 am – 12.00 pm and 12.30 pm to 3.30 pm) at our Turner Baptist Hall premises, 17 Condamine Street, Turner. At times we also run at The Link, Ginninderry.
  • Fees may change from time to time – see current program. Fees includ all materials used in class, morning or afternoon tea and GST.
  • Children staying for a full day are supervised for the half hour lunchtime change-over period at no extra charge.
  • Children staying must bring their own lunch.
  • Sibling booking discounts available
  • Late pick up may be offered depending on staff availability. Please contact us before the program begins – not on the day of the class.

Enrolment confirmation, payment and cancellation

  • Classes may be cancelled should there be insufficient numbers. If the class is cancelled, your child will be offered a credit for another workshop or fees will be refunded.
  • Prompt payment by direct debit secures your place in the activity. If you prefer to pay by credit card, let us know and a link will be sent. Please note a 1.75% transaction fee applies.
  • An invoice will be sent with bank details for direct debit payments and is payable prior to the class start.
  • Enrolment is not confirmed until payment is made.
  • We want your child to have an enjoyable art experience. If your child is unhappy for any reason, please let us know immediately so we can work with your child – no matter how small the incident may seem. Sometimes friends fall out of favour with each other, sometimes a child may make a hurtful or unwitting comment that will upset your child. This type of behaviour is not part of our artKids art agreement with the children and we want to know about it so we can address it.
  • If you do choose to cancel your child’s enrolment within the seven days prior to the class start, we are happy to refund the fee less a $55 administration fee – we prefer happy students and happy parents but do need to cover our costs.

Drop off and collecting children

  • Drop off is no earlier than 8.45 am as our teachers are setting up. If you need to drop your child earlier, please contact us to see if we can arrange supervision. This is an extra cost that will be covered by the parent.
  • Pick up is either 12 pm for the morning session, or 3.30 pm for the afternoon session. Please collect promptly as we need to clean equipment and set up for other classes.
  • If you are running late, please call us and let us know.

Children with learning needs policy

We aim to be inclusive and find that art is a great way for children with learning needs or from different countries to express themselves. However, we are passionate artists firsts, educators second and not special needs educators. We are more than happy for parents, carers or support workers to attend our classes with a child.

Please complete the Safety Form as part of the Enrolmy booking process BEFORE attending the class. There are additional questions relating to children’s learning needs.  We will work with parents and children to aim for an enjoyable art experience for all students in our class, however, should your child’s learning needs and behaviour take our teachers away from the bulk of the class, we will suggest small group or one-on-one tutoring as an alternative. For term classes, please note our Three Week Behaviour Management Policy.

Parents and carers are more than welcome to stay to settle children and leave when they are ready, however long it may take. Please do not feel embarassed – some kids take longer to settle than others and that is fine with us.

Any personal and medical information you supply to artKids Canberra will not be disclosed outside our artKids Teachers and Assistants without your express consent, except where required by law. artKids Canberra will, from time-to-time, email parents and carers of students and past students for marketing purposes, and always with the option to unsubscribe from our contact mailing list should you wish.
